Materials Development and Publishing
Dairy Council of California: HECC developed four brief online courses to highlight the Council's nutrition education materials and provide essential nutrition knowledge for program implementers.
California Department of Public Health, Cancer Detection Program: HECC developed a health education curriculum and health educator guide for the Every Woman Counts Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program.
Healthy Choices: HECC developed lessons about nutrition and human growth and development for this Grade 10 health education program of study for Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia.
School Employee Wellness: A Guide for Protecting the Assets of Our Nation's Schools: HECC developed the guide, accompanying presentations, fact sheets, and marketing materials for the Directors of Health Promotion and Education(DHPE). HECC is also assisting with the evaluation of the Guide.
Skills for Health: An 8-unit on-line health education course for high school students, developed for Apex Learning, Inc.
Getting Results: Developing Safe and Healthy Kids: A multi-part guide, fact sheets and trainings for school-based prevention professionals to assist them in creating and sustaining research-based prevention programs funded by the California Department of Education's Safe and Healthy Kids Program Office. The guide includes:

California Health Education Content Standards: HECC worked with an advisory panel of health education experts to develop the standards. (California Department of Education)
Prekindergarten Learning and Development Guidelines: Working with a panel of 23 national experts in child development, HECC developed the state's recommended guidelines for all preschool programs, teacher and parent videotapes, and teacher training materials.
5 A Day Power Play!: HECC developed and field-tested curricula on nutrition and physical activity for classrooms and for youth organizations. (California Department of Health Services)
Toward a Tobacco-Free California: HECC has produced five Master Plans for the California Tobacco Education and Research Oversight Committee:

On Your Own: Explorations in Nutrition and Physical Activity: HECC created and field-tested a high school nutrition/physical activity multimedia program with funding from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. It is published by Glencoe/McGraw Hill.
CANFit Recipes for Success: Nutrition and Physical Activity Programs for Youth: HECC developed this publication as the final product of a three-year case study evaluation of the California Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness (CANFit) Program.

Social Marketing
Educating Women About Ovarian Cancer: A study to determine the feasibility of developing a social marketing campaign about ovarian cancer for women in California and their physicians. (California Cancer Research Program)
Research and Evaluation
California Department of Public Health, Skin Cancer Detection Program: HECC conducted a pilot-test of an educational kit for elementary teachers.
Sonoma County Department of Health, Tobacco Control Program: A multi-year evaluation of the outcomes of five county-wide objectives in tobacco control, including cessation, smokfree outdoor dining, tobacco retailer education, and school-based tobacco prevention education. New York City Department of Health: Evaluation of a social marketing campaign funded by CDC to reduce latent tuberculosis infection targeting five foreign-born populations in New York City.
Camden County (NJ) Department of Health: Health-related data collection health-related data from a sample of high school students using the Youth Risk Behavior Survey.
California Nutrition Education and Training Program: A three-year statewide evaluation of SHAPE (Shaping Health As Partners in Education), including individual case studies of school sites as well as statewide surveys. (California Department of Education)
CANFit (California Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness Program): A three-year case-study evaluation of 16 community projects funded and coordinated by CANFit.
Glencoe/McGraw - Hill: Qualitatitive research with teachers and department chairpersons who are using various Glencoe mathematics, science, language arts, and reading textbooks. Research utilized in marketing materials and white papers.
Training and Technical Assistance
Getting Results: HECC conducts training sessions for county offices of education and school district prevention coordinators on how to create effective prevention programs based on research. The workshops utilize Getting Results materials described above.
American Cancer Society: Development of training materials for the Man to Man prostate cancer prevention and support program.
